About UMM Texas Conference
Robert Wright is a retired university lecturer who has been active with UMM at the Jurisdiction level as well as within the Annual Conference. He is President of the Henderson FUMC Men’s Ministry, and serves as a Certified Men’s Ministry Specialist, a Certified Lay Servant, and a Certified Lead Like Jesus Facilitator.
Johnny Jedkins, of Houston's St. Matthews UMC is the Interim Vice President of the Texas Annual Conference Men’s Ministry. The appointment was approved by Director of Congregational Excellence, Rev. Robert Besser, on March 29, 2021. Johnny is the Lay Service Speaker, Men’s President, as well as one of the Sunday School leaders at St. Matthews UMC.
Johnny has been married to his lovely wife, Janet for 19 years. He is retired from sales from Home Depot, and warehousing. Johnny met Robert Wright, who invited him to be the interim Vice President. He gladly accepted with the blessings of Robert Besser. His passion is to make disciples of men. His goal in this ministry is to bring all races together. Our Bishop, Scott Jones would say we are all God’s children.
Tom Ramsey, Prayer Advocate
Tom became involved with United Methodist Men in the early Nineties and have continued being in small ways ever since. Tom would like you to know that God listens to all prayers. He hopes that you will find the fun and joy that comes from communicating with a God that loves you and is involved with you. As well as learning just how powerful a prayer life can be. Tom is now serving as your Conference Prayer Advocate for the United Methodist Men of the Texas Annual Conference.
Tom worked as a prison guard for thirty years and was a local pastor for nine years.
George Redd is the other half of the two person Treasurer team for the Texas Annual Conference Men’s Ministry. George is the President of UMM Clear Lake United Methodist Church (CLUMC).
George Redd is a retired chemical engineer. He is co-treasurer for the Texas Annual Conference Men’s Ministry along with Phil Palma. He is also co-treasurer along with Phil Palma of the Open Door Sunday School Class at Clear Lake UMC. He currently serves as the President of the Clear Lake UMC Men’s Ministry. He sings in the choir and participates in Clear Lake Buddies, a joint venture with Clear Lake Elementary School. He is past president of the Men’s Ministry for FUMC Pasadena and Holy Trinity UMC Houston.
Steve is responsible for helping the Texas Commission Men's Ministry with marketing. He currently helps with the website, content, and our email system. Steve attends Clear Lake United Methodist Church (CLUMC).
Steve works full time as a Solutions Architect for Contrast Security. He volunteers for several non-profits: Gulf Coast Tiny Paws Rescue (GCTPR), the Houston Tidelanders for which he sings bass, and our organization. Steve has been marred for 9 years to his wife Anne and has two adult children, Lindsey and Grant.
